Jiří has performed and created work at the highest level internationally — from dancing with Nederlands Dans Theater and Kidd Pivot, to choreographing for companies like Ballet BC, NDT2, and the National Theatre Prague. He’s also worked with Jiří Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, and Paul Lightfoot & Sol León, and collaborates with some of the best educational institutes in the world, including as Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Juilliard School in New York, Arts Umbrella Vancouver, NDT Summer Intensive, SHARE Intensive Berlin, Orsolina28.

in3 INITIATE 1

17-21 November 2025

Movement as a tool for creative expression

Gain a unique insight into Jiří’s choreographic and improvisational tools, considering how the latest tools in contemporary dance can translate across diverse movement-based performance practices. Learn new improvisation and choreographic techniques, empowering artists to create their own work and start exploring or experimenting with ideas for upcoming opportunities

in3 INITIATE 2

24-28 November 2025

Movement methods and techniques of the dancer

Drawing from his lineage with Netherlands Dans Theatre and Crystal Pite, Jiří will share internationally acclaimed repertoire and some of his favourite improvisational tools. Challenge yourself and expand your movement vocabulary with this deep dive into some of the works performed by professional dance companies across Europe and beyond!

Structure: The two weeks are complementary so you can choose to do one or both weeks. Across both weeks, Jiří will teach with morning class (9:30-11am) and followed by a deep-dive (11:30am-1:30pm) into his choreographic, improvisational tools and his approach to movement with repertoire sharing.

The studio will open from 9am for warm-up and participants may access the studio and video equipment for self-practice daily after 1:30pm.

If you are not planning to utilise the open studio time, it is recommended that you block out 9am – 2pm in your schedule so you can have adequate time to warm-up, cool-down, and write notes.

Registration: Free. Fill our our form here.

Full program fee: 1 week – 500AUD, 2 weeks – 900AUD.

Pending Funding Outcomes: The full fee is not for profit, but is what will enable us to break even on cost and continue to offer these workshops sustainably (the cost of bringing in this level of master teaching is not cheap). However, we are committed to ensuring our program is accessible to a diverse range of participants and are actively pursuing funding to offer bursaries for eligible participants. Alongside getting to know you, and planning the experience to cater to your needs, filling out the registration form will enable us to understand how we can spread the available resources we have to meet the needs of all the participants. To be considered for this, applicants should submit their application by 8 August, 5pm AWST.  Details regarding specific subsidy amounts we can offer to various participants will be announced alongside acceptances.

Notifications: Acceptances and subsidies/bursaries will be announced and awarded in October 2025.

Follow our socials to stay updated for further details.

A really well thought out program, allowing for flexibility around other work … and then also the option for artists to stay in the afternoon and spend the time really investing in our own personal practices, whether that be working on upcoming projects or just exploring new movement pathways and methodologies that we are interested in.

He has the most amazing knowledge of his choreography and his own movement, both in an embodied way-that he can demonstrate, and he can also articulate it verbally better than any teacher I’ve ever come across. So, I think that dual aspect of the spoken description and visual representation of the movement and quality is a really special, really unique combination that we don’t get in many teachers these days.
